The Wildwood Express is a bluegrass band from the Western Pa. and Eastern OH. area. The band was formed in 1971 by Lou Stiver who continues to play the mandolin today. Lou resides in Polk PA. Lou also makes Stiver Mandolins. David "Jr" Miller is the guitar player. "Jr" has played with the Wildwood Express from 1983 until 2003, and as of April 2006 has rejoined the Wildwood Express. Jr. lives near Sheakleyville PA Bill Gore has been the banjo player since spring of 2003, and he hails from Cortland OH. Nora Cole is the newest member, joining in 2004 playing Bass Fiddle, and she lives in Warren PA. The Wildwood Express has been performing for audiences at fairs and festivals in the PA, OH, and WV. area as well as Ontario Canada. The bluegrass style they present is considered traditional. A typical Wildwood Express stage show is highlighted by three and four part harmonies, and instrumentals. The Wildwood Express recorded two albums in the mid 1970's ,a tape in 1988, another tape in 1990, and, a gospel tape in 1995. A recording of a CD and tape was made in 2001, and the latest recording was released in June of 2004 in CD and tape format. ©2009 |
